‘My Friend Al’ reflects on how easy it is to be drawn into artificial intelligence, to be lured by its offers of friendship, its compliments, and its influence. I wonder what effect it might have on the minds of young people, and whether relying on AI could diminish the need for personal opinions and independent exploration of ideas. Could it become a crutch, preventing us from exercising our own minds to find answers?
