Platonic love between long-term friends can be deep, steady and full of affection, built on shared experiences, trust and understanding.

But what happens when a conflict overseas creates an unbridgeable divide? When one friend’s heritage becomes a source of tension, and views shaped by social media begin to change how the other sees them?

Some Jewish friends have found themselves isolated, excluded or quietly ghosted, left confused and devastated by something entirely beyond their control. Their heritage becomes a reason for judgement, while propaganda and misinformation drive friends apart.

What remains is not only grief, but difficult questions about friendship, trust and whether a relationship can ever recover from such a profound sense of hurt and disappointment.
