We all watch television and most of us follow the news. Viewers often take for granted that coverage is fully researched and impartial. We expect truth and professionalism from our broadcasters, especially from the British Broadcasting Corporation, long regarded as a bastion of newscasting.

However, there is a growing perception of bias in their reporting, particularly in stories relating to Israel and Jewish people. The BBC has, on several occasions, been forced to issue apologies for its coverage. By then, the damage is often already done.

In a time when global antisemitism is at an all-time high, the spread of misinformation is especially dangerous. Issuing a correction after the fact does not undo the harm.
