After the Event, 2025

invited - JW3 London UK

invited - Jewish small communities network UK

After the Event documents global antisemitic attacks targeting innocent Jewish children and teenagers, as well as their parents, schools and kindergartens. Every incident recorded has taken place since 7 October 2023. What kind of world are we living in when a teacher tells a 6-year-old girl she is “only half human” because one of her parents is Jewish?

This is not history (though it feels like history repeating itself). This is happening now, to children, on their way to and from school and in classrooms where they should feel safe.

This artwork is in the form of a small tallit and was not created to be worn. Jewish children should never have to carry the burden of antisemitism on their shoulders.

comments

  • Keep on going. Humans have learned nothing about history. Our world has turned deeply insane

  • Heartbreaking, extremely upsetting and completely unacceptable

  • I honestly don’t understand this kind of darkness

  • Seriously frightening

  • There are some despicable people out there. Your work is vital

  • I cannot imagine the emotional response as you stitch

  • Another exquisite piece that perfectly integrates terrible realities within an elegant format

  • It’s difficult to comprehend how this is happening. Again!

  • This is devastating work

  • You don’t have to dig deep to find a persistent seam of antisemitism. The rhetoric is always a Jew is a Jew is a Jew - shockingly dehumanising

  • Your work is really special

  • It has become worse and worse, we never thought it would happen in our times. So important to do what you are doing

  • This is an exquisite piece of work but what a shocking story - as they say, antisemitism is a light sleeper

  • Very refined and delicate work
